Elbel received his B.P.E. from Springfield College in 1920, his B.S. from Ottawa in 1925, his M.P.E. from Springfield College in 1928, and his Ph.D. from Iowa in 1938. He joined the faculty in the Department of Phyical Education in 1928, reaching full Professor status in 1946. He retired in 1966 and died in 1983. From the guide to the Personal Papers of Edwin R.
